The Seresto dog collar has been the subject of controversy due to reports of adverse effects in both animals and humans. While the collar is designed to release low levels of insecticides to protect pets from fleas and ticks, there have been concerns about potential harm to humans, particularly children. Some studies have found traces of the collar's active ingredients on the skin of pet owners, raising questions about potential health risks. It is important for pet owners to carefully follow the instructions for using the Seresto collar and to be aware of any potential risks to themselves and their families. **

A collar for a small dog should fit snugly enough that it cannot slip over the dog's head, but loose enough that you can fit two fingers comfortably between the collar and the dog's neck. This allows for proper comfort and mobility for the dog while also ensuring that the collar is secure and not too tight. It's important to regularly check the fit of the collar as the dog grows or gains/loses weight. **

There could be a few reasons why your Yorkshire Terrier suddenly had ticks this year despite using the Seresto collar. It's possible that the collar may have expired or lost its effectiveness before the 6-month mark, leading to a lapse in protection. Additionally, the tick population in your area may have increased, making it more challenging for the collar to provide complete protection. It's also essential to ensure that the collar is fitted correctly and that your dog hasn't outgrown it, as this could also impact its effectiveness. Lastly, it's always a good idea to consult with your veterinarian to rule out any underlying health issues that may have made your dog more susceptible to ticks. **
